(7 ESSENTIAL TIPS TO SPEEDUP WINDOWS 7)

Is your computer running slower lately? Well it may not be your computer that caused the problem. Windows 7, when used correctly can be the fastest and most responsive OS to use, but that does not mean that it will not slow down with constant daily use, as the system can get cluttered and starts slowing down. Here in this article, I am going to show you a few easy tips on how to speed up your Windows 7 without spending a dollar. Just follow the steps below and your computer will always be up and running as new.

1. REMOVE MALWARE.

Malware, in short is Malicious Software, which is designed to disrupt computer operation. It gathers sensitive information or gain unauthorized access to your computer system. Sometimes it can be any software that you downloaded from the Internet. They can appear in the form of script or code which can damage or exploit your computer if you are not careful. Malware includes computer viruses, worms, Trojan horses, spyware, adware, etc that are malicious to your computer and causes your machine to slow down to a crawl. I would suggest you to download "Spybot Search & Destroy" and do a full scan for spyware on your computer. You can get a free download from:-

2. REDUCE VISUAL EFFECTS.

As we all know, Windows 7's OS interface looks very impressive, but displaying all the visual effects can be a waste of system resources and slow down your computer. To optimize your system, go to Start, right click My Computer, click Properties and click Advanced system settings, and go to the Advanced tab and click Settings, and choose "Adjust for best performance". If you still want to keep the look of Windows 7, I would suggest you to leave the last 4 check boxes selected. Click OK and you are done. So the next time you reboot your computer you will notice the difference how fast your computer will startup.

3. MAKE MENUS LOAD FASTER.

Have you ever noticed on your computer, every time you click on any Menus it takes a while to load up? Well, here is a tweak you can do to make Menus load faster. Go to click Start, on the empty Search Programs and files tab, type regedit and press Enter. Now navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER>CONTROL PANEL\DESKTOP, select MenuShowDelay, then right click it and select Modify. Change the default number from 400 to around 100, but not too less. Then close the popup window and you are done.

4. DISABLING AERO.

The Windows Aero interface for Windows 7 is intended to offer more advanced interface features such as new glass transparencies and animations to your computer. It requires a good decent video/graphical card to run efficiently on your computer and if your computer is too old, it will not perform properly. So if you are worried about your computer's performance, I would suggest that you disable Aero. To do so, first right click on your desktop and choose Personalize from the menu. Then a popup window is displayed. Just simply scroll down the various themes on the popup window until you see the Basic Windows themes. Click on the Basic Windows themes and you are done.

5. REMOVE UNUSED PROGRAMS.

Most Windows' users, tend to download free software and games to evaluate or try them out on their computers. Usually after a while, most of the software and games are no longer required to be used, and are left in their systems which takes up valuable disk space, which will in turn slow down their computers. Regularly checking and removing unwanted programs and software will definitely helps speedup your computer. To remove any unwanted programs, go to click Start>Control Panel, click on Programs, and then click on Programs and Features, and scroll down the list to check out which programs you do not need and double click it That way, it will automatically uninstall from your computer and you are done.

6. DISABLE USER ACCOUNT CONTROL.

User Account Control (UAC) is a window pop ups that helps protect your PC against unauthorised hackers and malicious software being installed on your computer. If at any time a program or software wants to make any changes to your PC, the UAC window notifications will pop up to let you know and ask for your permission. This is supposed to be a very good utility but to some users, this notification can be annoying. I would suggest you disable it to speedup your system. To disable UAC, go to click START>Control Panel, on the Search Control Panel empty space box just type UAC and click User Account Control Settings, then move the slider to Never notify and click OK. Reboot your computer to allow changes to the new settings.

7. INSTALL MICROSOFT SECURITY ESSENTIALS.

Microsoft Security Essentials is a free antivirus software from Microsoft which is designed to protect against viruses and spyware on your computer. It also provides real-time protection for home or small business computers. The good thing about Microsoft Security Essentials is it is free and easy to install on any computers running Windows 7. Like any other antivirus software, Microsoft Security Essentials cannot be installed on a computer with other antivirus software still running on your system. I suggest you uninstall that antivirus software and then install Microsoft Security Essentials on your computer. You can download free MSE antivirus software from Microsoft Download Centre at: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=5201, Microsoft Security Essentials runs very quietly and efficiently in the background of your computer. It does not consume much system resources and will not slow down your computer.
